Nelson Bays Harmony is searching for women singers in the Nelson area. Women of all ages who enjoy singing are invited to attend the chorus’ weekly rehearsal at 7pm on Thursday October 17th at the Club Waimea hall. In particular, we would like to encourage bass singers to come along. Barbershop singing has a vital place for women who can sing in the lower range of the voice. Nelson Bays Harmony is one of hundreds of Sweet Adelines International choruses that make up a worldwide organisation of women who sing four-part barbershop harmony.
Musical knowledge is not necessary to join — voice training and music education are part of our weekly training. Any woman of average singing ability, with or without vocal training, will find a part that fits her voice range with the help of the harmony chorus musical leaders. NBHC performs regularly throughout the community, offering its talent for entertainment at civic events and charitable functions, in addition to promoting harmony and friendship among women.
Singing, performing and music education are only a portion of the benefits that Nelson Bays Harmony chorus members enjoy. They experience genuine friendships, increased self-confidence, renewed vitality, and the unwavering motivation and inspiration of others that becomes invaluable. More information is available on the NBHC website at: www.nelsonharmony.org.nz
Sweet Adelines, a non-profit music education organisation, is one of the world’s largest singing organisations for women encompassing around 700 members in New Zealand and more than 25,000 members worldwide.
