The streets are alive with the sound of singing.
Singing is what Nelson Bays Harmony love to do and this Saturday 14 July, to celebrate Barbershop Music Appreciation Day, they will be taking to the streets to share the love.
Not just any singing but a cappella barbershop harmony singing. They are encouraging woman who love to sing to “come out of the shower” where most closet singers hide, and be part of their worldwide organisation.
Director Kathy Jamieson says, “We’re looking for women who enjoy singing, are keen to learn and willing to be part of a community that spurs one another on. It’s a case of “together we’re fabulous”.
Barbershop Music Appreciation Day was established on July 13, 2005 to honour the 60th anniversary of the day that Edna Mae Anderson founded Sweet Adelines in 1945 in Tulsa, OK, U.S.A.
So if you hear fabulous sounds when you’re out and about this Saturday sashay over and enjoy.
We’ll be singing around Richmond in the KMart area between 11am and noon.
The next 8-week a cappella nightclass starts 9th August.
